space center by Frans vanBaars
Watercolor

Many fishing boats that are found docked along with other similar boats. In the background, there is a picturesque bridge, as well as the Space Museum. This was part of a project for the 375th anniversary of the City of Hampton. I went around and painted a series of paintings in Hampton. It was also the last year when Buckroe Beach was open.

Due to apparently wasting my boss's time, I have to stop critiquing on art now. Good luck on all your paintings and I'm sorry I can't critique anymore.

Bye.

I appreciate it. I''ll be doing newsletters since my boss wants me to write from my viewpoint, which is a shame since he has a lot of stories. Oh well. Again, thanks for replying. -Ariel A Baron

Hello Frans, at the age of thirty we had a lot of audacity and creativity, the years have added to us and also subtracted, it is life, that we do not lack the illusion!

Whitepost by Frans vanBaars
Acrylic

This old country store I painted a couple years back is on the route to Bath, North Carolina. In earlier times, this was the home of Edward Teach (Also known as Blackbeard). My good friend at one time, Kenneth, lived along the road next to it on the left side of the painting. Since then, Kenneth and I have both moved on.

O`HAPPY DAY by Frans vanBaars
Watercolor

O happy days, for a fisherman in eastern North Carolina in other parts of the world. There is no day better than when the catch is good. Cleaning fish that he caught himself is an almost festive event. To be able to put them in the cooler, clean, and ready to put in the pan later on. Is something that people have to experience for themselves. The people from eastern Carolina will travel for hours in order to be able to put their line in the water but the real joy sets in after you start to catch whatever fish will bite. In the encore is whenever they go in the pan and served on the supper-table at home. Seated around the table, the fisherman will be able to tell his fish tales.

Biography
Hello!  I am Frans van Baars, and I have been a visual artist for more than forty-five years.  A graduate of the Ivy School of Art in Pittsburgh, PA in 1969, I been painting on interesting subjects on location ranging from barns in Ohio to coastal scenes on North Carolina’s Outer Banks.  While I live in eastern North Carolina and do much painting in this area, I have traveled throughout the United States, Europe, and several other continents to capture the splendor of majestic architecture and the beauty of nature.

As a native of Holland who came to the United States in 1956, I became a US citizen, and served in the US Navy Submarine Service during the cold war period.  Prior to coming to the US, I traveled the world as a merchant seaman.  I began my art career after neck and back injuries forced me to retire from the Navy.

I have done promotional art and other art in civic, commercial, and church settings, including murals and other commissioned work.  I have also coordinated set design for theatrical productions and opera.  I use a variety of media for painting, including  watercolors, acrylics, oils.  I have taught classes at community colleges in eastern North Carolina.  I established the curriculum for the art department at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC.  I enjoy teaching and provide private instruction on request.  I love to travel, and am hoping to take a group of artists to The Netherlands in 2016 to see the largest “steam festival” in the world.

If you have a subject or area that you would like immortalized in a painting, I would be delighted to work with you to help capture its beauty.  Please call, write, or e-mail me so that we can begin the work of preserving your favorite [...]
