Cone Flower Study -Pastel Painting by Vic Mastis
Pastel 7 x 5

This was a scene I came upon on one of my many camping trips and hikes. The flowers were hidden from the everyday view. They were a pleasant surprise as I passed by. I did this little study to prepare for a large painting in the future.

Clear Lake - Oil on Panel by Vic Mastis
Oil 16 x 12

I am always drawn to glazing at water and the reflections they create. The patterns of the lily pads were so exciting to me! The way they created a lacy look in the distance.

Distant Palms -Pastel by Vic Mastis
Pastel 14 x 11

While being in Naples, I found this nice palm tree scene and was able to paint it right in the park. The weather was not too hot and just a little windy. My husband had brought hot dogs and grilled while I was painting this plein air. What more could I ask for- getting to paint and eat!!

Linda Briesacher- yes this was France! So fun to pass by this ladies home in the morning. We couldn't communicate verbally but we waved and smiled. She would have all her doors and windows open. There were no screens or screen doors. She would just let all the outside in!

Through the Woods by Vic Mastis
Oil & Gold Leaf 24 x 20

This is an image from my camping experience and being in the woods. I tried to capture the mystery of exploring the unknown forests and woods. The peaceful, quiet feeling of walking through the trees on that perfect day!

Biography
Working in a series, Vic chooses subject matter from what is inspired by everyday living, including landscapes, night scenes, florals and still life. “I find inspiration in solitude and I want to share the peaceful feeling,” she says. “I try to capture what I’m seeing and feeling, and put it on canvas. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it becomes theirs.” Sometimes Vic uses gold leaf to create the illumination of subtle effects along with glazes of oil paint achieving an ethereal aura that compliments all decor.
