Biography

I am a representational artist.  My goal is to convey all that I have learned about draftsmanship, composition and color through my pleinair paintings and my paintings of the human figure.  I hope to share the sense of enjoyment I feel as I attempt to interpret what I see.  To quote the American painter and teacher, Charles W. Hawthorne, “It is the artist’s business, the painter’s job, to point out to the public the beauties of nature.”

My life-long passion has always been to draw and to paint.  Charcoal and oils are my favorite mediums.  My motivation to create a painting comes from studying works by contemporary artists, as well as the Old Masters, the Impressionists and Post Impressionists.

I was born and raised in the New York City metropolitan area.  I attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC, The Art Students’ League of N.Y. and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey.

I am a continuing student and have participated in several art classes and workshops in northern California, where I now happily make my home.
