Underpainting of a Representational painting from ROME. It is a composite of multiple photo's layered to get this effect. The is the Grisaille underpainting (it's pronounced 'griz-EYE'). Let me define what Grisaille means. This is done when an artist uses a limited palette related to one color like Raw umber, to create a painting's first layer. This technique helps to develops the image by building up shadows, highlights and details to produce the desired contrast and composition.
