Arti was born in Rishikesh, a small town of India which has been a center of spiritualism since ancient times. It was the vibrancy, colour and the spirit of the town that influenced her art from the beginning. Holy men attired in bright colours sporting dreadlocks; vivid scenes of men and women meditating and worshiping on the banks of river Ganga intrigued her and she soon learned to bring out character in her portraits and figurative drawings. Since then her art has been a reflection of life that surrounds her.
Her passion for drawing led to a career in illustration and animation which lasted for about two decades. In 2011 the hustle and bustle of India was suddenly replaced by a quiet life in a beautiful town of Hampshire, England. It was here that she decided to embark on a professional art career and held her first show in Basingstoke. Since then she has exhibited in numerous shows in England, Europe and Asia. She regularly exhibits with International Watercolour Society participating in their juried shows held in various locations around the world.
England offers an abundance of inspiration through its natural beauty and bustling wildlife. Upon moving here she came in to close contact with the natural world and decided to explore subjects besides humans. She loved the idea of bringing out the pure, unblemished emotions on those furry little faces - the possibilities were endless. What started as a whim soon turned into passion and her love for animals has grown stronger since then, leading to a vast portfolio of animal paintings.
Her work is also evolving with each artwork that she creates. She uses every medium available to experiment with new styles and techniques, learning something new even with a failed experiment. To her the process of creating is a joy in itself, something she looks forward to each morning as she walk into her studio.
