All mothers can identify with the need to keep their child close, reassured of her safety. For me, this one was also about the soft glowing light and the wonderful lines of composition binding the two together.

"Reassurance" won First Place in Pastel at the New Braunfels Art League Gallery summer 2008 special show "TEXAS!" and 3rd Place in Show at the Austin Pastel Society's Juried Exhibition 2009.
