Art is the very essence of our being. It is the visible evidence of our intrinsic nature. The artist will execute his or her work in accordance with values and beliefs held dear.

Helen Musser's focus has been to project the spirit of man through painting;working with watercolor, oil, and encaustic. Helen is currently working in oil and a combo of encaustic and watercolor.

Last evening was a gala affair at the Opera House Gifts & Decor as we enjoyed wine and cheese while a musical group entertained us. Terrell  Alliance of Education of Arts and the American  National Bank of Texas cosponsored a group exhibition of artists. Helen showed and sold several wonderful paintings. The exhibit will continue for two more weeks.

May 2008 
Helen Horn Musser's purpose for the Basics Series was published along with paintings in Masters of Today and Trends. These books go out to galleries, museums, and collectors throughout the world. Peter Russu of Sweden, an artist, publisher, and author, collects work of the finest artists in todays art scene and  produces wonderful images of masters of today. I was very honored to be among these painters for 2008. 

March 2008
Helen has been concerned with global warming for some time. Whether this is true or not is still in question, however, fossil fuel will some day play out; we must find new ways of powering the globe. Helen believes nuclear energy is the way we can do this. Nuclear produces unwanted waste, very destructive, but, it is the most efficient method of producing energy. So what do we do with all the waste? Why can't we send it into outer space or to the moon? We can have electric cars, as well as anything else energy is needed. Sir Richard Branson is already offering trips into space. This would be a wonderful new enterprise for the Virgin Group. Dreaming is a part of an artist make up. Helen believes this can be done.

This morning Helen will have the pleasure of taking part in Career Day at Terrell High School, Terrell, Texas . This is a day of sharing with young people the wonderful adventure of choosing Fine Art as a career. Helen will also be delivering a demonstration in encaustic to the Greenville Art League this month.

NorthEast Texas Fine Art Alliance was formed in the Fall of 2003. Our goal is to honor and promote Fine Artists in the NorthEast Texas area. We are committed to the integrity of Fine Art. We are working hard to advance visual arts in NorthEast Texas. The arts are part of our soul and the soul should not be neglected. We will grow!

Demonstrations done in a variety of mediums have been a part of NETFAA from inception; also lectures and slide shows. It was Helen Musser's pleasure to present a demo using encaustic for the June meeting. Encaustic is a very exciting medium; ancient in origin but, very beautiful for contemporary art.

Helen will have the pleasure of giving a demonstration in Encaustic paints in Greenville, Texas for the Greenville Art league, February 16, 2005, 1:00 PM at the Greenville Public Library. She will be painting with encaustics and will discuss the technique and other points of interest for developing as an artist.

Helen still attends workshops though it has been several years since she has had the time; she had the pleasure of sitting at Tom Lynch's feet and must tell you of his splendid night scenes. He gave us all the tips and information we needed to paint our own. Thank you Tom.

Helen would like to thank and recognize some of the dedicated artists who taught her through the years. An artist must organize his knowledge and put it to practice in his own work but, the precious gems of advice and council given by teachers are priceless. Helon Thompson, one of Helen's first, gave her very much a foundation on which to build. Ken Hosmer, the best watercolorist in the world, gave her much inspiration for painting with watercolor. Workshops with the PaPa's opened up a whole new world of plein air painting for her. Associate Professor at SMU, Barnaby Fitzgerald,was very inspiring and gave Helen technical help she needed. Juvenal Reis taught her how to paint with encaustic. Finally, the one she most values, Kevin Macpherson, Master Painter, gave her the confidence in her work to go on and develope her own style. Most of these artist continue to teach and inspire their art students every day.
